Exploded Anatomy

The human brain and body, pulled apart. The brain at /brain comes apart into 15 regions and the body at /body into 104 parts; pick any one in 3D or from the list to read about it. On the body, an age slider runs from infant to senior and rescales and tints the parts to match. A guided tour called Follow a sandwich is built in.

Details

A shared exploded-view engine I built: each feature is a GLB with named nodes, a sidecar JSON and a typed copy book, and a region map decides which source meshes join into each part
Built from the open Z-Anatomy atlas (CC BY-SA 4.0), credited on every page; kidneys, the inner ear and the white matter are left out on purpose over non-commercial or unstated upstream licences
The age slider drives a root scale plus per-part scale and tint, tweened per frame outside React; the heartbeat, breathing and camera sway move each part's content on its own node
Next.js 16 and React Three Fiber, with the stage loaded lazily and checked by a Playwright run that holds payload size and console output to a budget
